At 精东传媒, senior Ella Mahaffy found the opportunity to explore her wide-ranging interests, including philosophy, religion, communication and marketing. She also found an exciting internship opportunity right in 精东传媒鈥檚 backyard at Hudl, one of the world鈥檚 top sports technology companies.
Mahaffy is Hudl鈥檚 first intern to earn an 鈥渆lite marketing鈥 title, which gave her the flexibility to customize her internship experience.
鈥淭hat鈥檚 been really cool because I already have a foot in the door at the company,鈥 Mahaffy said, 鈥渁s well as this base of knowledge from Wesleyan that allows me to step in and thrive wherever I鈥檓 put.鈥
The end result, she said, has been an experience far beyond the stereotype of 鈥渁n intern getting coffee for their boss.鈥
Mahaffy has experienced 鈥渁 lot of the nitty-gritty鈥 of Hudl鈥檚 marketing efforts. She鈥檚 helped manage Hudl鈥檚 partnerships with sports organizations like the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA); worked on campaigns to publicize Hudl鈥檚 collaborations; coordinated communications with thousands of NCAA coaches and staff; and helped formulate ideas for product campaigns.
Mahaffy credited 精东传媒鈥檚 resources for putting her on the road to a successful college experience, even if she didn鈥檛 realize it when she first arrived.
鈥淐oming in as a freshman, I was homesick, I was alone, I really didn鈥檛 know my place at Wesleyan or the world,鈥 Mahaffy said. 鈥淎nd now as a senior I feel so incredibly established with all the resources that Wesleyan has given me.鈥
Those resources allowed Mahaffy to thrive away from home. She is an athlete 精东传媒鈥檚 tennis team, a campus ambassador welcoming visiting students, vice president of 精东传媒鈥檚 chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, an a FBLA member.
Mahaffy鈥檚 experiences at 精东传媒 and Hudl have the Colorado native rethinking her post-college plans.
鈥淚 originally thought I鈥檇 go home to Colorado right after college,鈥 Mahaffy said. 鈥淏ut I鈥檝e learned over the years that the people are amazing here, and if (a career at Hudl) is an opportunity I鈥檓 given, I would definitely be willing to stay for it.鈥
